Celery reduces your Cholesterol...! want it??

From many years ago, we knew celery as a vegetable, as daily food from our ancestor...we consume celery as food...some one love it, some one doesn't....

But, now we know that it is good to eat celery...because celery is not only 'just vegetable' but it is 'healthy food' also...Our modern science had proved that celery can reduce Blood Cholesterol level significantly...How it works?


Celery contains so many important substances that make the cholesterol level decreases, such as:
1. 3nB (3-n-Butylphthalide)
is a chemical compounds that found in celery. It's effect are so many, i.e:
-decrease blood pressure
-anti inflamatory effect
-anti convulsan, and..
-reduce blood cholesterol level about 7%


2. L-tryptophan,
is a antioxidan compounds that found in celery. It's effect is not to reduce blood cholesterol level directly, but this antioxidant is prevent atherosclerosis by prevent the oxidative process. As we know, when oxidative process happen to LDL choesterol, this LDL is easily penetrate the vascular wall and will accumulated as plaques that adhere to the vascular wall, and become bigger and bigger, and cause the obstruction of blood vessels, like: Coronary arterial diseases or Stroke, etc.


3. Fiber

Fiber will make you feel as your stomach full, because the fiber can't be digested with our gastric enzymes, so the fiber will prevent you "eat too much", and prevent Obesity. When this fiber enter the intestine, this fiber will bind bile acid, and prevent the reabsorption process of the bile acid. This process will decrease the blood cholesterol level.

4. Vitamin C

Celery contain excellent dose of vitamin C. Each 19.02 calories of celery contains 8.40 mg of Vit.C. Vitamin C will increase the excretion of cholesterol via Bile Acid, increase the HDL 'good cholesterol' level, and prevent the reabsorption process of the bile acid. These effects will make so many cholesterol is excreted via faeces and the blood cholesterol level will decrease. Not finished yet..., this Vitamin C is also very important in Colagen synthesis process, and will prevent the atheroscleroting process in Blood vessels..

Bioceramics Wound Healing


Now, Bioceramics is one of the most popular advanced wound dressings thet used in clinical field. We know that to support the healing process of the wound, we have to keep the wound's site always moist. Is difficult to keep the moist condition of the wound with convensional wound dressings, such as: Standard Gauze, because the gauze will dry and become stick adhered to the wound bed, and when we have to change dressing, we will destroy the regeneration process, an make the new trauma of the wound.


It's not okay for now, to use Antiseptic regimen, such as: Povidone Iodine solution, in addition to wound care, because we know that the Wound Not Need to Be Sterile, but Clean. The use antiseptics will make the wound site dry and sticky, and that are not good for the healing process. Now, Bioceramics was developed as the alternative - advanced wound care, but very effective!

Usually the ceramics that used is in spheric form, and average diameter of 0.7 mm (range 0.2-1.0 mm).The ceramics is packed in the sachet, and the sachets are made from highly absorbent and permeable, and was approved by FDA that the material will not adhere stick to the wound.
The ceramic phase has a high porosity and high permeability, giving it a high liquid storage capacity and high liquid absorptive power. The fineness of the pores makes a suction effect, because there are Cappillary Suction Force, vary between 56 kPa - 933 kPa. This effect is very useful to absorp purulent material, debris, and blood. So the wound bed is always clean, but always moist. This capillary suction force will also make the granulation and reepithelization process, significantly faster than the process if we use convensional dressing.
We, in Immanuel Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia, have already use this bioceramic, mostly in case Decubital ulcers and Diabetic ulcers...and the results....are VERY GOOD....

Apa Itu "Masuk Angin"??

Di masayarakat Indonesia, kita sering mendengar istilah "Masuk Angin".

Kata "Masuk Angin" tersebut mereka gunakan apabila mereka merasa:

  • kedinginan
  • kembung
  • pegal-pegal otot dan sendi
  • buang gas terus menerus
  • batuk-pilek

Kerap kali mereka memakai jaket yang tebal saat berkendara motor dengan tujuan, supaya "enggak masuk angin"..mereka mungkin beranggapan bahwa "angin" tersebut dapat masuk lewat pori-pori tubuh kita, dan dengan mekanisme "entah bagaimana" dapat menimbulkan keluhan-keluhan tidak enak seperti yang telah disebutkan di atas.

Sebenarnya di Istilah Kedokteran, TIDAK ADA istilah "masuk angin", dan berbagai keluhan yang disebutkan diatas memang dapat ditimbulkan oleh Cuaca Dingin (mungkin aja banyak anginnya) namun tidak seperti yang telah dipikirkan oleh banyak orang awam...(masuk angin..).

Cuaca yang dingin dapat menimbulkan mekanisme "vasoconstricion" dimana terjadi Penyempitan pembuluh darah kita, hal ini mekanisme untuk menghambat pengeluaran kalor berlebihan dari tubuh, sehingga tidak terjadi Hipotermi. Nah..Vasokonstriksi (penyempitan) pembuluh darah ini dapat mengakibatkan peredaran darah di tubuh kita kurang lancar, sehingga hasil metabolisme, dan Asam laktat terakumulasi pada otot-otot kita..akibatnya pegal-pegal dan seluruh tubuh kita tidak enak...

Selain itu, Cuaca yang dingin juga mengakibatkan "perlambatan dari gerak peristaltik saluran cerna kita", sehingga gas yang ada di saluran cerna kita tertampung sehingga dapat menjadi kembung...perut terasa penuh...ditambah lagi mungkin aja terjadi yang namanya "Aerophagi" (Makan angin)..nah ini mungkin yang sering kita alami bila kita berkendaraan motor, atau naik Roller Coaster, tapi sambil buka mulut (Mangap), akibatnya banyak angin yang tertelan oleh kita, sehingga kita kenyang dengan angin (Kembung-red). He..He...

Parahnya lagi, Cuaca yang dingin, dapat mengakibatkan rambut-rambut sel di saluran pernafasan kita lambat untuk bergerak..padahal fungsi pergerakan tersebut adalah untuk mengeluarkan lendir dan bakteri serta virus. Akibat dari gangguan fungsi rambut-rambut di saluran nafas ini, kita akan mudah terkena infeksi saluran nafas atas, seperti: batuk, pilek, dll..

Nah, obat-obat, jamu-jamu yang "wes..ewes..ewes..bablas anginnya" hanya berfungsi mengeluarkan udara dalam saluran pencernaan (jadi sering buang gas), dan menghangatkan badan karena banyak mengandung jahe, dll..(that's Oke...).

Tapi, kalo jamu-jamu buat pegel-pegel..lebih baik jangan deh..karena banyak yang mengandung Steroid dan Obat penghilang sakit non steroid (NSAID), yang dapat mengakibatkan banyak komplikasi lain, seperti: Sakit lambung, bahkan sampai lambungnya jebol (bocor)..Hati-hati..

Kalo kerokan boleh ga?? Jangan Deh..Karena kerokan sebenarnya untuk memecahkan kapiler-kapiler darah, sehingga terasa enak karena pembuluh darah kembali melebar..namun waw..badan kita rusak berat..dan taukah anda, kenapa orang yang kebiasaan dipijet dan dikerok kayaknya kecanduan? hal itu dikarenakan tubuh kita akan mengeluarkan zat "endorfin" Sejenis Morfin namun endogen (dihasilkan tubuh), sebagai mekanisme pertahanan terhadap rasa nyeri...Jadinya kayak nge-fly aja...( that's not good...!)
